The senior secondary Australian Curriculum for English is presented in four subjects that share common features. These include the continuing development of students’ knowledge, understanding and skills in listening, speaking, reading, viewing and writing.
Each senior secondary English subject draws upon, develops and emphasises different knowledge, understandings, skills and processes related to the strands of Language, Literature and Literacy used in the Foundation to Year 10 curriculum.
The senior secondary English curriculum values the histories, cultures, traditions and languages of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, and their central place in contemporary Australian society and culture.
